Wood Plug Builders
When the striped bass population rebounded after the moratorium imposed in the early 80's, a new group of builders emerged. Guys like Big Don, Hab's, and Bob Hahn started building quality custom lures for the angler who wanted the best. They had been preceded by guys like Danny Pichney, Donny Musso, Bob Pond and Stan Gibbs.
Since 2000, many custom builders have began to sell their work. I call these guys the "young guns" and two of the best in my opinion are Ryan Smith of Western New York State and Mike "Tattoo" Dauphin of Rhode Island.
